Cool Kids

Cool kids need to chill out and that’s the aim behind our Cool Kids Club. The club takes place in the mornings from 8 am before school (Breakfast Club) and after school until 5pm daily. It provides social and recreational activities to help children relax in a warm, caring, comfortable environment. The cost is kept to a minimum.

The excellent programme of activities is firmly based in play and the play resources offer a wide variety of opportunities to do just that. Our service was awarded a Quality Assurance Mark by PlayBoard NI.

We couldn’t over emphasise the importance of play for children’s social and emotional development and we endeavour to provide opportunities for quality play through The Cool Kids Club. Children are provided with the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities throughout the week such as cookery, sport, art and ICT (using computers and our new school iPads).

Homework Club

Homework Club runs daily, Monday to Friday from 3pm to 4.30pm and on all school days of the year to support pupils as they complete their homework. Pupils in P4 and P5 work together while P6 and P7 pupils work together.

The main aim of the club is to raise standards in Numeracy and Literacy, through supporting pupils to a greater understanding of skills learned during class.

Supervised access to the internet is also available in our ICT Suite.

Pupils are given a light snack at 3pm before beginning their homework.

The Aims of Cool Kids and Homework Club are:

  • To provide an after school club to support working parents.

  • To provide a quality service, which offers a play based programme for children aged 4-11 years old.

  • Additionally we aim to provide a Homework Facility for children aged 8-11years.

  • To ensure that children receive quality support from trained staff in a safe and caring environment.

  • Skills development will be paramount, in particular in the areas of social, emotional and communication.

  • The caring, happy, ethos of the school will be transferred to the Cool Kids and Homework Club After School Care.

  • Children will be treated with care and respect so that all their needs are met.

  • The environment will be relaxed and informal with the emphasis on developing social, emotional and communication skills amongst the children.

  • Development of sporting and creative skills will be enhanced through club activities and through buying in expertise during the year.
