Choir: Tuesdays 3-4pm
We have two choirs in St.Joseph’s.
P4 and 5 children can be members of the Junior Choir which is led by Miss Clarke and P6 and 7 children can be members of the Senior Choir which is led by Miss Hanna. We audition for both Choirs which involves singing a short piece we know well on our own.
Events
For special events like Masses in St. Patrick’s and competitions we join together. Senior Choir sang at the Open Evening in front of lots of visitors! December is a very busy month for the Choir as we do lots of singing in our local community, at nursing homes and in the City Centre to raise money for Charity. People are always glad to see us and enjoy our performances! We also sing at our Annual Carol Service in St. Patrick’s Church. We recently provided the entertainment for our Grandparents’ Day celebration which was enjoyed by all.

We are currently practising hard every Tuesday between 3 and 4pm for our forthcoming competitions and Confirmation.
Variety
We enjoy singing a mixture of musical styles and we are widening our repertoire all the time to include songs from Disney soundtracks, musicals, The Beatles, African chants and also lots of hymns to enhance the celebrations of Mass and the Sacraments. We also work on the dynamics of our singing and will perform in unison, harmonies and parts!
If you are interested in joining the Choir you will need to be:-
· Committed
· Dedicated
· Reliable
· A good team member
· Enjoy singing!
Miss Hanna and Miss Clarke are very proud of the Choirs!
Here’s what some of the Choir have to say!
“What I love about Choir is that it is fun and it helps you improve your singing. You can learn new songs and you can represent the school in competitions in a good way. I love singing!” Anna Glover, P6
“I like Choir because you can learn new songs and at Christmas you can sing for people.” Lucie, P6
“Hi, I’m Ethan Tohill and I’m in the Choir. I think it is good to get involved in Choir because you get to sing some great tunes. Whether it’s a pop ballad like Can You Feel the Love?, or a religious song, like Christ be Our Light, there’s always a song for everyone!” Ethan Tohill, P6
“I love Choir because I love the new songs. We learn a lot of new songs really quick and sometimes we go to contests. The thing I like about Choir is that we sing in harmonies and they are really fun.”
Liam McKeown, P5
“I like Choir because it is special to me. I like Choir when we learn new songs.” Taylor Murray, P5
“Choir is a fun after school activity where we learn many fun songs. We enter competitions near the end of the year and we always sing at Mass. Over this year, we have learnt a great deal of songs. At Choir you not only learn songs, you learn the proper ways to breathe, stand and sing” Niamh O’Connor and Annie Kennedy, P7
