Primary One            Click here to see our Learning Plan for P1

Hello – We are Primary One

Our teachers are Mrs Kitt and Miss Delaney

We are busy bees in P1 in St. Joseph’s. Our ‘big’ work is learnt through play. Every morning we get to dress up, paint, build with blocks, play with dough and create everything from castles to cafes! We play together with our friends and share our news and ideas. After all this play we have a healthy break and then go outside to play in the playground with ‘our buddies’. We each have a special ‘big’ buddy who we meet each week to read and play games and they also keep us company in the yard!

We have lots of big books to read together and we love to act out the stories with puppets. Then it is time for our hard work of writing and reading. We work so hard but it is so much fun we don’t even realise! After we have our lunch and a chance to play we get down to the hard work of learning about numbers. We play so many counting games that we are whizzes with numbers!

We are future musicians and we can often be heard singing and playing some fabulous tunes. Top of the Pops here we come! We love to learn about the world around us and learn so much from science investigations and from going on nature walks and playing in our Science garden. We are lucky in our school because we have so many places to play. We have an huge outdoor sandpit, a pirate  ship and a great big climbing frame and slide. We 'wake up our brains' with Primary Movement everyday and exercise our bodies at Big Play and in P.E! School is so much fun it is no wonder we are tired at 2 o' clock!!!!!
